Vedas, ancient sacred texts of Hinduism, contain a vast collection of hymns, prayers, rituals, and philosophical teachings. The Vedas are written in Vedic Sanskrit and are considered the oldest scriptures in the Hindu tradition. There are four main Vedas:

Rigveda: The Rigveda is the oldest and most important of the Vedas. It consists of hymns and prayers addressed to various deities, including Agni (the god of fire), Indra (the king of gods and god of thunder and rain), and Soma (the ritual drink).

Yajurveda: The Yajurveda primarily contains prose passages and verses used in rituals and ceremonies. It provides instructions for performing sacrifices and contains mantras to be recited during these rituals.

Samaveda: The Samaveda is a collection of melodies and chants used in the performance of rituals. It is closely related to the Rigveda and contains many of the same verses, but arranged in a musical format.

Atharvaveda: The Atharvaveda includes hymns, spells, and incantations used for various purposes, including healing, protection, and warding off evil. It also contains philosophical reflections and discussions on morality and ethics.

The Vedas are considered the foundational texts of Hinduism and are highly revered by followers of the religion. They provide insights into the ancient Indian society, its religious practices, and its philosophical outlook.
